It has been a bit. I know. I have been extremely busy surviving the pandemic. I know that sounds silly, but I mean it! We moved into a new house on March 15, 2020. Then. No one left. No one went back to school. No one went to work. From March until August, everyone was HERE! Then the children started hybrid school, so sometimes they would go to school, and sometimes they would not.
Now, we ar a year in. I've been working from home since forever, so for me it's not different. The husband however has now been working from home for a year. and that has been tricky with seven kids. Children are here all the time! So, we will be doing a Zoom meeting, and have to mute it tell the kids to SHUT IT. It's great. We almost always remember to mute ourselves when we are...uh... parenting. It's fine. We're fine.
I have taken a long break from writing. Well. No, that's not true at all. Not even a bit! I'm 3/4 of the way through a Master's Degree in Public Admininistration. It's a lot of writing. It's not super fun to READ, but it's still a lot of words.
When Covid-19 hit, I started working on a novel manuscript, but it started lagging around the 50,000 word mark. I couldn't figure out how to make it work. So, I left it.
In November, I was determined to NANWRIMO, but, I didn't finish 50k until the end of December. I failed the deadline, but got the words down. That counts. It's now an 80,000k manuscript! I've sent it off to my alpha readers to search for plotholes. I have tried to plug them, but like... who knows?
Mostly I'm writing this out to keep myself accountable. I want this queried out this year. That means I have to get it polished and sent out basically immediatley. Yay. Ha!
Anyway, since this is a writer's blog I figured a writer's update was a good idea.
